Beaches of Folegandros

The coastline of Folegandros is shaped by dramatic cliffs, secluded coves and crystal-clear Aegean waters. From easily accessible family beaches to remote shores reached only by foot or boat, the island offers a swimming experience for every traveller while preserving its wild and unspoilt character.

Northern Beaches

The northern beaches offer a wide variety of landscapes and levels of accessibility. Vardia and Chochlidia are conveniently located near Karavostasis, while Latinaki, Vitsentzou and Pountaki provide quieter alternatives along the coastal road. The long sandy beach of Livadi is easily accessible and protected from most wind directions.

Katergo stands out for its wild scenery and exceptionally clear waters, while Ligaria, Agios Georgios, Serfiotiko and Vorina reveal the more remote side of Folegandros. Several of these beaches are reached by dirt roads or hiking paths and can be affected by northern winds, so checking the weather and carrying water and sun protection is essential.

Reach one of the most impressive beaches of Folegandros aboard Stella Express III. Scheduled departures from Karavostasis offer a short journey to Katergo, including a photo stop at the impressive Georgitsi Cave.

Katergo’s location can offer protection from several wind directions, although all departures depend on safe weather and sea conditions. Tickets are available from Folegandros Travel or on board.

Southern Beaches

The southern beaches combine easy access with beautiful coastal paths and boat connections. Agali is the area’s main family-friendly beach, while Fira and Galyfos can be reached on foot. Agios Nikolaos offers clear waters, natural shade and traditional tavernas beside the sea.

Further along the coast, Livadaki, Ampeli and Valsamo offer a more secluded experience. Livadaki is known for its turquoise waters and nearby lighthouse, Ampeli is protected from northern winds and ideal for snorkelling, while Valsamo appeals to visitors seeking complete tranquillity. As facilities are limited, visitors should bring the necessary supplies.
